Humor/Laughter quote

"A life without humor and laughter is a life only half lived." - Gerry Hopman

The 1 Minute Laugh

I asked my wife, "Where do you want to go for our anniversary?"

It warmed my heart to see her face melt in sweet appreciation.

"Somewhere I haven't been in a long time!" She said.

So I suggested, "How about the kitchen!"

And that's when the fight started..........

Humor from our richest 'Humor Resource'......our kids

Nine-year-old Joey was asked by his mother what he had learned in Sunday School.

"Well, Mom, our teacher told us how God sent Moses behind enemy lines on a rescue mission to lead the Israelites out of Egypt.

When he got to the Red Sea, he had his army build a pontoon bridge and all the people walked across safely.

Then he radioed headquarters for reinforcements. They sent bombers to blow up the bridge and all the Israelites were saved."

"Now, Joey, is that really what your teacher taught you?" his mother asked.

"Well, no mom, but if I told it the way the teacher did, you'd never believe it."

Feature of the month

Being healthy, happy and positive with laughter

The benefits of laughter, joy and happiness have been extensively researched, studied and proven to be positive factors in being and staying healthy.

We don't need permission for laughter or happiness. We need to take time daily to laugh and boost our happiness feelings.

Like yawning, laughing is contagious and will often affect the people around you, making them laugh with you. So laughter has a multiplier effect that positively touches people around us.

A 2008 University of Maryland study showed that listening to uplifting and joyful music keeps blood vessels healthy.

Like exercising, laughing releases endorphins into the body, resulting in a positive emotions effect, which is the 'mind-heart' state we are hearing so much about.

In addition to allowing daily laughter into our lives, we should adopt more uplifting and joyful music into our daily lives.

A study at Loma Linda University found that anticipating a laugh can raise our ability to fight depression and boost our immune hormones while at the same time lowering our stress hormones.

The Norman Cousins experience and a subsequent 2007 study at the University of California found that funny films and videos would give pain-free periods, or provide for better tolerance of pain.

A 2009 study found that diabetics involved in a laughter study experiment were able to lower the risk of heart disease.

A 2008 study found that comedy can increase blood flow to the heart and have the same impact as aerobic exercise.

The positive health benefits from an active life, being happy, positive and joyful are plentiful.

To achieve these positive health benefits, choose positive and happy friends, happy TV programs, uplifting and joyful music, uplifting reading material, join happy and enjoyable social groups, and maintain happy life partner relationships.
