The 1 Minute Laugh

My wife and I were sitting at a table at her High School reunion. My wife kept on staring at a drunken man swigging his drinks, as he sat alone at a nearby table.

I asked her, "Do you know him?" "Yes," she sighed, "He is my old boyfriend. I understand he took to drinking right after we split up, and I hear that he hasn't been sober since4."

"My God," i said, Who would think a person could go on celebrating that long."

And then the fight started........

The Day Care teacher held up a picture and asked, "What is this?" "A horsy," one child answered.

"And what is this?" the teacher asked. "A piggy." replied another youngster.

"And what is this one?" asked the teacher, holding up a picture of a male deer with a beautiful rack. There was no answer, only total silence.

"Come on children," the teacher coaxed. "I'll give you a hint. What does Mommy call your Daddy, when he hugs and kisses her a lot?"

"I know! I know!" said a little girl. "It's a horny toad!"

Formula for happiness

Can you be happy and have fun at the same time? Realistically, no, since nothing in life is perfect. However, you cam be happy and enjoy life most of then time.

If you are healthy emotionally and physically, happiness helps you deal with the stresses in life, because it makes you more optimistic, confident and resilient.

To enjoy life and have fun most of the time requires that you feel life is good and that you enjoy it to the fullest.

Life is what it it is and will have most of us experience some low spots in life, but with a positive attitude, these incidents will be minimal. And when they do blow over, you will know what to do to become happy again.

Here are a few tips to help you enjoy life:

  • When you wake up in the morning, adopt the attitude that you will enjoy the day - no matter what
  • Avoid bad news. The news is usually made up of negative happenings that can add stress to your life
  • Be kind and helpful to others. Remember, niceness begets niceness
  • Don't be afraid to be yourself and act silly sometimes. Let the child, the clown within you come out once in a while
  • Find inner peace by meditating, praying, whatever works for you. This will add to your happiness.
  • Before falling asleep, think for a moment of what you did and enjoyed during this day

If you lose your zest for laughter - you lose your zest for life!
