Happiness is

Happiness is commonly thought of as having abundance of success, overflowing love, or power. In short, getting everything you want and more.....

In poor and underdevelopment countries people engage more freely with one another, they smile often and express more affection then we do in Western societies. This does not mean however that poverty causes happiness.

Happiness, although desired by many, is very nebulous and therefore for most, if not all of us , extremely difficult to obtain.

Everybody desires to be happy. It is essential to our health and well-being. Happiness is one of the most important aspects in a person's existence.

It can come from many different sources, but the most prevalent ones are family relationships, a solid financial situation, satisfying work and work environment( including getting along with co-workers ), community and friends, good health, personal freedom ( living in a stable peaceful democratic society ), and satisfaction about personal values.

Increasingly more studies indicate that happiness is caused from within us. The exact causes however are very much a personal issue and dependent on genetics, and association with like-minded people.

Research by Sonya Lyubornisky, professor of psychology at the University of California, Riverside, indicates that approximately 50% of how happy we are is due to genetics. Another 10% is attributed to life experiences, such as health, prosperity and relationship status in life.

The balance, or approximately 40% is due to behavior and therefore within our ability to add to, or enhance.

Professor Lyubornisky maintains that happy people share certain traits. They value and nurture relationships with friends and relatives. They tend to be caring and helpful with respect to others. and they tend to be more active physically, will exercise and remain fit.
